Letter from Dr. Brown
double-quotes-round

After 35 years of practice, I have decided to transition into retirement. I am selling my practice to Dr. Elyse Bruns. Dr. Bruns was raised in northern Wisconsin, completed her Bachelor of Science degree in biology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and graduated with distinction from the Michigan College of Optometry.

I first met Dr. Bruns and her husband, who is also an eye doctor, when they purchased our home in Waukesha in 2019. At the time I thought to myself “wouldn’t it be something if she took over my practice someday as well”. Interesting how things work out.

Prior to moving to Wisconsin, Dr. Bruns practiced in Ann Arbor and Flushing, Michigan. She has additional training beyond the normal course of study in ocular disease management including clinical experience at the Saginaw VA Hospital and private ophthalmology offices, which makes her fellowship eligible in ocular diseases. Dr. Bruns has lectured nationally about ocular diseases and other subspecialties within the eye care field.

Dr. Bruns will continue to provide comprehensive eye care including diabetic exams, pre-and post-operative surgical care, glaucoma management, and evaluation of cataracts, age related macular degeneration, and others. As I do, she will refer to the appropriate specialist when needed. Dr. Bruns is honest, conscientious, thorough, and compassionate. These are very important qualities to possess when caring for people. I have every confidence she will provide the outstanding eye care you deserve.

To help with the transition over the next year, I will be working part time and seeing patients with Dr. Bruns. Afterwards, I will retire and pursue other interests.

It has been an honor and a privilege to assist in your eye care needs.

Best wishes,

Dr. Bruce Brown
